Prompt: Explain the importance of cross media synergies in the media area you have studied.
Cross-media synergies in film refer to the collaboration across different media platforms to promote and extend the reach and impact of a film. Cross media convergence is important towards film because it creates a new widespread of businesses for the film industries by utilizing new technologies created to start advancing the ways in which movies or products are advertised or represented. This involves leveraging various media channels such as television, social media, video games, merchandise, music, and publishing to create a more involved experience for the audience. Disney is one of the largest production companies currently. It was founded in 1923 by Walt Disney and Roy O.
Disney, in recent years, has used cross-media synergies to significantly amplify promotions for their acquired company “Marvel.” Disney's newly released video game, developed in collaboration with NetEase Games and titled “Marvel Rivals,” represents a major evolution in the film industry and its approach when further developing products such as film. The use of synergy for marvel has morphed into video games which allows people to view Disney as less of a children focused industry and more of a fanbase for the older generation. This newly developed introduction to marvel brings a wider demographic for Disney, which allows more of an audience so that when new productions are released, they get more views, more money and overall, more representation. The release of “Marvel Rivals” has also created more of a hand on, creative platform to sort of collab the world of characters to the needs of people and what’s popular with the recent generations.
Furthermore, cross media synergy significantly helped Disney develop into more than just toys, books, clothes, and even movies themselves. Disney has also developed into engaging growing establishments such as Disneyland, Disneyworld, or even Disney’s Avengers Campus. These places allow more attraction of people who want to engage with their favorite Disney or marvel character. Each year is a new enhancement in these establishments, just like in the year 2021 on June 4th Disney released a new part of avenger's campus with an animatronic spiderman. This really attracted spiderman fans and encouraged the increase in views of the new spiderman movie at the time “Spider-Man- No way Home”. Attractions like this may not only bring Marvel fans, Spider-Man fans, but it also brings people who are interested in the technical aspects of the animatronic and can also attract people interested in engineering.
In conclusion, the importance of cross-media synergies has proven to have a major impact in the film industry, particularly in Disney's successful enhancements of its Marvel franchise. The mix of platforms like video games, represented by the release of "Marvel Rivals," not only widens audience demographics and enhances engagement but also generates significant promotional activity for related film productions. Moreover, Disney's expansion into physical establishments like Disneyland and Avengers Campus further highlights the importance of cross-media convergence in developing deeper fan connections and driving interest in their releases of movies. Through the strategic use of diverse media channels, Disney has passed the format for traditional film promotion, establishing an enhanced dynamic community that connects with old and new audiences to keep their interested and maximize the use of their entertainment.
